If you’ve been paying attention to the health and fitness industry lately, Heidi Powell will need no introduction. This celebrity trainer and life coach has traveled all across the country to help inspire and motivate people to transform their bodies, minds, and lives.
However, Heidi had a rather ordinary beginning before she became a household name for many who are familiar with her work. “I was born in Flagstaff, Arizona,” Heidi said. “My family moved to Mesa when I was just 4 years old, and I have lived here ever since. Growing up, I was heavily involved in gymnastics, weight lifting, and was a member of a three-time National Champion Cheerleading squad. Athletics were my life.”
This gravitation toward a life of activity soon transitioned into a lifestyle of helping others. “I always seemed to be the ‘go-to’ coach for anyone looking to educate themselves about all aspects of health and wellness,” Heidi said. “Being that fitness was my passion, I was first certified as a trainer at the age of 19 and worked at a well-known fitness chain. Training there, I had the opportunity to work with all walks of life: stay-at-home moms, as well as the elderly, professional businessmen – individuals all looking to improve their fitness and increase the quality of their lives.”
Though she was finding increased success with many of her newfound clients, Heidi expressed how it was actually the challenges she helped her family overcome that really gave focus to her mission in life. “My greatest education to date, which has given me more insight into life than any of my formal education, is my experience as a member of a perfectly imperfect family,” she explained. “My family members are human, and have endured many struggles together. More specifically, there have been struggles with various types of addiction, ranging from food to drug addiction. Through each rehabilitative battle I have cheered and coached my family members through, I learned so much about human behavior, success, relapse, authenticity, and the power of support groups — not to mention unconditional love. Understanding all of these components is vital to any type of human transformation, and little did I know, this had set the foundation for the years ahead.”
This foundation soon set in motion a phenomenal career in the health and fitness world. Traveling across the globe, Heidi has had the opportunity to speak with numerous groups and individuals about the telltale secrets of how to transform one’s life. “My mission is to educate,” Heidi said. “Educate people of all ages and all walks of life. I want to teach them not just about lifestyle, nutrition and exercise, but also about perspective, the way we view the world, and how powerful we truly are.”
This education has not gone unnoticed for her clients either. When asked about some of her greatest achievements over the past couple of years, she lists a number of individuals whose lives have been changed for the better. “There are several that stand out in my mind,” she begins to enumerate. “Last year working with a young man who was struggling with finding his identity and worthiness, to come back and drop well over 100 lbs; this year working with a girl who was terrified of finding a new level of intensity, to discover her true self and lose over 100 lbs; to just in the last few months working with 155 lb mother of four who simply needed the knowledge of how to change her body…and dropped 30 lbs in three months — smaller than her high school body.”
Since she spends a great deal of time helping others to transform their lives, this loving wife and mother of three shared how she maintains balance with everything she has on her plate. “I’ll be honest, it is tough,” Heidi said. “I think it’s an ongoing struggle for me… and for most people. I use the old lesson of trying to fit rocks and sand in a jar. I try to focus on putting the big rocks in the jar first; priorities, like family, marriage, passion, etc., and then I put the sand in — the smaller, more material things of life — like my career and money. Otherwise, if I focus on the sand first, the rocks will never fit.”
This year, Heidi will be joining the Vemma team to help thousands more across the world prepare for one of the largest weight-management systems ever to be unveiled. As the head trainer of the 12-Week Transformation Plan, she will be connecting with people of all walks of life via the latest in video technology, to help them achieve the same kind of goals she has helped so many others attain already, utilizing the new line of products called Bod•ē. “Vemma Bod•ē™ is not only a quality product made fast, easy, and fun,” Heidi said, “it’s an experience! You get a full 12-week program and me as your trainer, to guide you through your weight loss journey!”*†
Her advice to those getting ready to start their total body transformation? “Set truly attainable goals. If it’s a commitment to just 10 minutes of movement a day, perfect. 5 minutes? Fine! Perhaps it is the promise to cut just one soda out of your daily regimen. Whatever your commitment, keep it reachable every day. Staying on track is really about fulfilling the commitments you make to yourself — day after day. Reduce the size of the commitment and you’ll increase your chance of success… exponentially!”
On behalf of everyone at Vemma, we’re looking forward to a great year with you, Heidi!
